3 square meals a day

Days have been flying by lately. Stay up late at a show or going out to a bar, sleeping in til about 11, going to work for a few hours. (we are really slow during the summertime) Hang out with Steph rest of the day, repeat.

A few things that have stood out.

+ I got a Ipod 32 gig Touch Ipod

+ Have Heart / Lie and Wait show on the 10th INSANE!

+ Altus show with Sohns/Dance of Days was really fun.

+ Sound and Fury is coming up soon.

So Have Heart's new record debuted at #193 on the Billboards top 200.
So crazy a hardcore band that has DIY roots gets that kind of recognition, way more impressive than some crappy pop band who has hundreds of people working for them trying to make them huge. Have Heart is huge just from working hard and being a good band with good people in it.
Huge props to them.

Here are a couple pictures from the past shows.

the days go by so slow

So we had to cancel our tour with Die Young to California, total bummer although we are still going out for Sound and Fury on the 22nd.

Been working when I can making ends meet, summers are always hard. Photography business is slow, I take off for tour..etc.

Tomorrow's the Have Heart show, Sam BBB is coming into town, can't wait to hang out.

I Typed For Miles

Im the worst at this. I totally said I would blog everyday on tour and I have completly forgot. Just got called out by my mom, love you mom!

So heres whats been going on.

day 1- san antonio
Picked up Soul Control from the airport and took them to eat at Green, they have a couple vegans and a vegetarian. We hung out for a bit then went to pickup the gear and head to the show. Our shirts didnt come in ontime for the san antonio show so we had to pick them up the next day.

day 2- corpus christi
HOT! No air conditioning venue is terrible, it was so hot and humid the entire show. Good turnout and the promoter brought us thai food and pizza. We are getting along great with Soul Control at this point. Putting 10 guys in one van could be disasterous. We stayed with Shaggy from the golden age.

day 3- houston,tx
We roll up to the show around 6, a few kids outside. but mostly all our friends. On the way a rock flew up and chipped the windshield, we called a mobile windshield repair and had it fixed. Bill gave us his life story. Oh I forgot to mention the GPS! Anthony from Soul Control brought his gps. It has been awesome, we are getting spoiled with it. I have to get one of these. Show was awesome, kids had fun and we got paid well.

Day 4- dallas
We woke up in Houston and got cicis, which is the best way to start a day! We head out to Dallas, get to the venue first and walk around downtown a little bit until someone gets there to open the doors. Show was the last one at red blood club so it was pretty insane. alot of kids came out. We have started talking crap to Soul Control about basketball and how we can beat them. Theres going to be a huge grudge match happening soon. We can totally take them in basketball though.

day 5- nashville,tn!
We drove 11 hours to nashville. When we got there we went to Mike Thrasheds house and unloaded our bags. Then we went to his school gym to play basketball, they had swimming, raquetball, etc. We get there ready to beat soul control and there is a huge basketball camp going on so we cant play. Huge bummer...so we went swimming, not a total loss. Show in nashville was really good, we get better reactions everytime we come back.

day 6 - atlanta,ga
Atlanta!! I love coming to Atlanta, so many good friends here. The show was alot of fun but we had to take off right afterwards for Lemoyne, Pa.

day7- lemoyne, pa
We are driving right now to Lemoyne, on the road somewhere in Pa. This part of the country is beautiful, so green and hilly. Today is a little overcast and its about 70 outside. Such a nice change from Texas.

Ill post more stuff tonight

I Typed For Miles

Tonight is our tour kickoff show in San Antonio, hopefully our scene here doesn't disappoint like it normally does. I will be updating this more when I'm on tour, I'm going to try and write in it everyday and post pictures when I can.
I'm out to the airport to pick up soul control

last night I finished the Foundation artwork for their 7"
i'm pretty stoked on it.

This is the cover/back
covers on the top, backs on the bottom. it will fold right after the red starts, so part of the back will be bleeding onto the front.

Here's the insert.

Spinning and Spinning

So today my Mom, Jessica and Jake came up to San Antonio, they met Uncle Tim and Lenora here. Jessica and Jake are going with Tim to the beach in Corpus for a week. We just had a nice late lunch at Demo's Greek Food, it was really good to see everyone.

Last night me and Steph played an acoustic show at Music Town on Broadway. It was really fun, we did a couple Jimmy Eat World covers ("your new aesthetic, believe in what you want") both of the record Clarity..which is my favorite record of all time. So I had a really good time, it was Dance of Days record release, they played so well. I'm really proud of that band, such good guys and they really work hard.

A couple of days ago I got a music tattoo, I've been wanting one forever and could never decide on something but I finally figured out what I wanted to get.

I'm really stoked about it. That's all for now.

Listen to Everynight Fireworks by Hey Mercedes.

Sell My Old Clothes, I'm off to Heaven.

So I haven't updated in a few days...

Let's do a recap of what has been going on this past week.

5.10.08-
We were in Abilene for my Grandparents 50th Anniversary Party, so all the family was there. I don't even remember the last time our family was 100% complete in one place. So we did the smart thing and took pictures! I borrowed a camera from my work and did some nice family pictures of everyone and the grandkids and the different family breakdowns. They came out really good, I'm still editing it all..this week I should easily have it done, last week was too busy to get it done. That night in Abilene Altus played at The Mission with Fireworks and the Homefront, it was an awesome time. Alot of my family came out to the show which was awesome since they had never seen me play before. I always enjoy going to Abilene, I wish it was closer so we could make the trek there more often.

5.11.08-
Me and Steph woke up and hung out for a little bit in Abilene then headed back to San Antonio, I had 2 shows to run that night. On the way home I got a call that the Crossing had not renewed their liqour license and couldn't open up that night, so we had to move the show to the patio at Rock Bottom. Nothing better than having to move not 1 show but 2 shows in a matter of hours. So I got home and immediately went and picked up Lie and Wait's Gear, the PA and then put up signs at the Crossing about the show being moved. 5 pm-Lie and Wait show started, about 25 people paid for the show, matinée shows in San Antonio apparently don't do that well, plus the Spurs were playing. 9 pm-Fireworks show. It turned out great, over 40 kids paid. Fireworks had an awesome time, alot of people singing along. Those guys are so nice. I got sworn in on the Birdman Game. and I pwned them a few times on it.

5.12.08-
Altus played in Corpus Christi this night with Fireworks and The Golden Age. It was sooo hot in Corpus, and on top of being hot it was humid, which is the worst. We had a good time here and sold a few cds.

5.13.08-5.15.08 -
I worked every day this week and we practiced a few times. It was a busy week for us, promoting our cd release. A couple different Spurs games and me and Zach had worked on some new Lie and Wait songs that we are going to be putting out on a 7" later this summer.

5.16.08-
ALTUS CD RELEASE!
I got there early and back lined all our stuff, immediately the staff at Rock Bottom didn't want The Hydramelody to play because of some fight they started at a show a few months ago.
So I had to talk to them and we got it all settled.
The show went so great after that...All the bands who played did awesome and there was a good turnout, about 115 people paid, then with guests and all the band members it probably brought up the total people there to around 175. The room was full when we went on around 10. We played our set and everything went smoothly. We gave away 25 cds to the first 25 people there and then sold an additional 30 after that, it was alot of fun.

5.17.08-
Yesterday we drove down to McAllen to play a show. For some reason I thought it was only a 2 hour drive to McAllen but it was easily a 4 hour drive. We got to the show which was at an old elementary school the city uses as an art space. It was fun, we sold a few cds and got paid. We ate at Taco Palenque. That place is always amazing. On the way home the drive was so hilarious. All I can say is, life is a grey alien. howling at the moon. time travel. running around the van. lee with no shirt on and no shoes on. keep your hands where i can see them.
We got home at 5 am.

Today-
Being lazy, all last week was so busy and today I'm just going to take it easy and relax.

Here are a couple of pictures from our cd release thanks to Steven Onward.
