TGIF

Wow, this week went by fast. Maybe it's cause I'm working so much, or maybe it's cause I just don't pay attention to the days anymore.

Redwoods vs. film

Steph got her pictures developed from the redwoods, film is so much better than digital.

I have always wanted to start a small record label, if I did I think a contender for the name of the label could be...Redwood Records

Sound and Fury + Redwood Forest

So last week we took 2 cars out to California, reason#1 to play Sound and Fury Festival, reason #2 to go camping in the Redwoods.

Sound and Fury-
S&F is a 3 day festival in Santa Barbara, CA. We played on friday and then hung out saturday and sunday, it was an awesome time. Here are a couple pictures from our set.

noone takes pictures of the drummer, hahaha.

now THE REDWOODS!!!!
We drove up Sunday night and got to the redwoods Monday Afternoon, set up camp monday night and hung out.
Us setting up camp!!

Tuesday we hiked about 4 miles roundtrip down to Founder's Grove, it has Founder's Tree which is one of the biggest trees in the area we were staying at.
Here are some pictures from Founder's Grove.

Tyler Riding a Redwood tree

Me and Steph INSIDE a Redwood Tree, you could seriously set up a bed and dresser in there.
A more loving picture of us in the tree.

This made me dizzy

When a redwood tree falls down it becomes part of the forest floor for up to 400 years, they were everywhere. We were climbing/walking on them, so insane.

Founder's Tree!!!!!
Wednesday we drove about an hour up the road and went on a 9 mile hike! It took almost all day, we stopped alot and admired our surroundings.

At the very beginning of the hike, we went through this. 100 foot walls on either side of us full of green shrubbery, fallen trees around. We climbed on a few of them.

We couldn't figure out how old this tree was, haha

you know just hanging out with my friend Redwood Tree.

We climbed up fast, and came down slow...

the group minus Zach the camera man.

this was shot during the day, sometimes the forest got so thick it was dark through there. Always a cool breeze, when you would come out of the forest the tempature would rise about 10 degrees.

I climbed up here, it was pretty far to the ground and I was a little scared.

When a Redwood falls across the trail they have to cut their way through it, no going around or over....

Waterfalls...
Last 1.5 miles of the hike were outside of the forest, you had a cliff to your left with about fifty yards of trees and stuff and about 200 yards to your right across a flat prarie was the ocean.

We saw some huge elk deer towards the end of the hike.

The huge cliffs.

Mike looking out.

We have been home for a few days and I got a call last night that my Uncle Carl and Aunt Tammy were killed in a car accident in Abilene. Some lady turned in front of them. It's sad how life can be cut short so quickly by someone else's mistake. My Uncle Carl gave me my first guitar, the one my little brother Jayden has now, he taught me my first chords on guitar and always encouraged me to play music. I'm going to Abilene this week for the funeral, it's going to be a hard time. I'm so lucky I get to go and do the things I get to do, I want to make sure I live all my life 100% and do what I want cause you never know when it can be taken away.
RIP Carl and Tammy Huskin
